Shiki's Last Year
Introduction
Explore the steadily shrinking world of a master poet in this small piece of interactive fiction.
Repeated encounters with people and objects will reveal new insights. You might even uncover an actual Shiki haiku.
Created for the Isolation Bitsy Jam in March 2020.
Controls
- ARROW KEYS: Move, interact.
Notes
- Exits are more or less where you think they are, but are only one square large due to engine limitations. If you suspect there is an exit somewhere, continue moving along the row or column until you find it.
- If you happen to encounter a bug, please let me know in the comments, and I will fix it as soon as I can.

I am unable to get past the summer section at night. Is this the end? I like the game and selfishly want more.
That was definitely a bug! It seems Bitsy moved the exit somewhere inaccessible, for reasons I don't fully understand.
An updated version of the game has been released, so now you should be able to reach the autumn and winter parts. Thank you for your kind words, and I hope you enjoy the rest of the game.
Thank you for the update. This is one of the best games to incorporate haiku, as well as the best Bitsy game I have played.
